Mission & Vision

Our Mission

We create and inspire great public schools in New Orleans. We do this by directly operating open-admissions public schools and by developing training programs for teachers and leaders in our own schools and across the city. Our schools prepare students for higher education and fulfilling careers by

  • ensuring high achievement for all students
  • providing a rich variety of educational experiences to nurture students' social and emotional development, love of learning and high aspirations
  • developing staff skills in a supportive working environment that becomes progressively sustainable.

Our Vision

A COLLEGE PREP CURRICULUM

We believe every child should be equipped with the skills and mindset to succeed in a college preparatory high school. To meet this goal, we offer ongoing assessment of students’ needs and provide additional classes and tutoring as necessary to ensure a strong foundation in reading, writing and math as well as a solid understanding of science and social studies.

Rigorous and Engaging Classes

Our teachers lead students to develop the strong work ethic and self-discipline necessary for success in school and in later life, coupled with a love of learning and a persistent intellectual curiosity. Our classes also contain a healthy dose of fun.

A Nurturing Community

In our caring environment, teachers and administrators know the students well. We build strong partnerships with parents based on shared expectations, regular communication and a dual commitment to creating a strong school community. School-wide events such as Family Night, Grandparents Day, Open Garden Day, Math Night, and Fall Harvest Festival bring together members of that community.

Enrichment & Extended Day

A wide variety of activities expand our students’ sense of life’s possibilities as they allow each child to discover areas that may develop into lifelong interests. The school day extends until 4:30 or 5 p.m. to offer tutoring, academic support classes and homework club; gardening and cooking; sports; dance; visual art; music and much more.
