Academics
FirstLine schools focus on success, and we have many reasons to take pride in our students and teachers. Some of those reasons come from recent standardized test results.
At Green School in 2009
The school's overall School Achievement Index rose 28% from 2008 to 2009. All grades from 4 through 8 showed an increase over the one-year period, ranging from 9% for 4th-graders to 118% for 5th-graders. Green’s 8th-graders posted a particularly notable record on the Spring 2009 LEAP tests, besting the Recovery School District average in each of the four categories (English language arts, math, science and social studies) and outshining the state average by 13 percentage points in math. Those students also moved from 50 to 75 on the Achievement Index.
At Arthur Ashe in 2009
The 4th grade ruled, climbing up the the Achievement Index to reach 82. These students also were above state averages in English and science, and above Recovery District Schools in every measure. Ashe 7th-graders outdid the RSD on every subject as well, and outranked the state average in social studies. The overall Ashe Achievement Index increased by more than 70% to reach 73.
