Curriculum Overview

Central to FirstLine Schools' mission of helping students acquire the academic skills to achieve in high school and college is the curriculum.  FirstLine provides a standards-based curriculum aligned to the Louisiana Grade Level Expectations and enhanced with national standards and standards developed by other successful charter schools.  The curriculum is designed so that students reach mastery in core, fundamental skills while also developing their critical thinking skills.  Students receive at least 100 minutes of both language and math instruction a day.  Additionally, students have science, social studies and enrichment (dance, physical education, cooking, gardening, music) classes.  Because of FirstLine’s commitment to the success of its students, teachers meet for two weeks in the summer to evaluate and refine their curricula to provide the highest quality instructions for each individual student.
