Partners in Innovation and Excellence

Our 'client' is the child and the family but also the teacher.

FirstLine Schools is committed to a culture of collaboration with organizations and initiative that support the success of students and families in New Orleans.  Read below to learn about some of our exciting partnerships.

Leading Educators: FirstLine Schools is committed to building quality professional development programming, both for its own teachers and for those at all open-admission public schools in New Orleans. In 2008, FirstLine was the lead design and delivery partner for the teacher-leader training program, Leading Educators. Leading Educators is now a standalone non-profit and its flagship New Orleans program is expanding nationally, with its next site in Kansas City beginning in 2011.

NOLA TIF Project: The NOLA TIF project, funded by a grant from the federal government’s Teacher Incentive Fund, is dedicated to improving student achievement and promoting educator excellence in New Orleans.  Four organizations – the Recovery School District, FirstLine Schools, KIPP New Orleans Schools, and ReNEW Charter Management Organization – are working with New Schools for New Orleans to implement project over 5 years.  For more information, click here.

FirstLine's Teacher-Leader Program: FirstLine is committed to providing the highest quality and cutting edge professional development opportunities to our teaching staff.  In addition to the network-wide Professional Development that is built into our regular school schedules, some of our teachers are nominated to participate in this intensive professional development cohort focused on learning and disseminating national best practices into our FirstLine Schools. New Orleans Outreach: Founded in 1993 by Jay Altman, FirstLine's CEO, New Orleans Outreach was developed to provide a means of increasing community involvement in James Lewis Extension School, which later became New Orleans Charter Middle School.  In 2003, Outreach expanded to more sites, and now serves 7 schools in New Orleans.  As it has always been, the mission of New Orleans Outreach is to improve the quality of public education at our partner schools. We do this by linking volunteers and community resources through programs that respond to the needs of each school. Learn more at www.nooutreach.org
